You,
who are the conductor of creation,
lead nature’s orchestra,
each day anew.
Give us another year
to hear once more
the gentle rhythm of the waves,
the high notes of the smallest grains of sand,
and the strong steady beat
of the ebb and flow of tides.
Like the warm breeze off the land
that carries on its breath
the still small voice
inside the heartbeat of the earth,
let my own heartbeat honour You.
Let me have a few more lines to write,
a few more deeds to undertake,
creating something here on earth
that yields a place for You.
My life is my collateral,
my lines unwritten, a promissory note,
the people I have helped, my payment down,
sustenance for the sick, the interest,
and pursuit of justice, my chance to repay the debt.
For we are but stewards on this land:
the body I inhabit is on loan
and held in trust until recalled.
The life I live, a tribute paid.
A philosophical gem, Larry.
As ever I am moved by the depth of emotion you express and the profound humility of your faith. Thank you.
