The thin bony branches of trees point their fingers upward,
as clear sky allows the power of the sun to warm the air.
Confident, a Cardinal searches for a place to nest.
Water plip-plops off the roofs, as puddles take shape on the snow,
and grey gritty banks lining the trails, begin their afternoon melt.
Ice crinkles under the feet of eager, early spring walkers.
Buoyed by the windless warm weather and brilliant sunshine,
a shrieking, giggling child rides a pastel pink, white, and blue bike,
splashing happily through puddles, as her proud father runs beside.
