“We had to learn ourselves and, furthermore, we had to teach the despairing men, that it did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us.
Vicktor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

Life,
a wizened teacher,
moves us with her words to hear,
coaxes us with her knowledge to understand,
and challenges us with her intensity to respond.
Calm, capable hands
place tasks before us,
drawing out our unique talents,
and inspiring us to fulfill our purpose.
Under her patient tutelage,
we develop,
we grow,
we reach full stature.
We choose listening
in the face of difference,
generosity
in the face of need,
comfort
in the face of illness,
confrontation
in the face of injustice,
humility
in the face of success,
courage
in the face of suffering,
acceptance
in the face of death,
and love
in the face of another.

  1. Loved your post titled LIFE.

Generosity, courage, humility and acceptance etc. are so important.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

  2. Brings back memories of discussions with students on “the meaning of life,” how our experiences shape our thoughts, what we do and what we say. Life, a true influencer of self over time.
