Goodbye Summer, Goodbye Fall

Thanks to Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd for inspiration

In a great green world,
there was summer,
and fall,
and people who—
were having a ball.
They were strolling on beaches in cute little breeches,
biking on trails
and watching the whales.
There were green leaves on trees
applauding the breeze,
a bird with some cherries and a bowl full of berries,
and a crazy old poet who was talking to fairies.

Goodbye summer,
goodbye fall,
goodbye people having a ball.
Goodbye trails,
goodbye whales.
Goodbye leaves
applauding the breeze.
Goodbye sun,
goodbye warmth,
Goodbye beaches
and cute little breeches.
Goodbye bird,
goodbye cherries,
and goodbye to the crazy old poet,
talking to fairies.
