Some people sing in the shower,
others croon while cooking,
but Emma,
let light notes slip softly
while walking me down the hall.
She brought grace and calm and humour
to my rag-tag wobbly walk,
and warmth,
that melted the icy edge of anxiety.
Like others of her profession,
she showed compassion in the face of complaint,
greeted grimaces with grins,
turned belly aches into belly laughs,
and changed embarrassment into dignity.
Threads of hope woven into upbeat dispositions;
bright beams of sunlight,
shining rays into a darkened world.

This makes me proud to be a nurse-even if well retired.
Wonderful Larry. Thank you. Nurses are so important and often under appreciated. Every time I visit the Oromocto out-patient clinic or other similar centres I ALWAYS give the Triage or Intake or treatment nurse a huge THANK YOU and express my gratitude for their work. Nurses exemplify the 3 rules of a professional person: show up on time, know your work, be nice. A musician once gave me that 3 part mantra. For him, it was: show up on time, know your music, be nice. Something we all could remember every day.
